PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CROWN WORLDWIDE AIMS TO CUT A KILO OF CO2 IN AN HOUR Crown Relocations and Crown Records Management Join Efforts to Improve Conditions on World Environment Day UNITED KINGDOM, June 3, 2008—Crown Records Management, UK, a worldwide leader of business information storage services through its facilities across the UK will attempt to save a kilo of CO2 in just one hour as part of World Environment Day on Thursday, June 5, and is urging other local businesses to do the same. The company, part of the Crown Worldwide Group, is taking part in The CarbonNeutral Company’s "Cut out a Kilo" of CO2 campaign, which encourages businesses to take action to reduce their carbon emissions. Each centre will do its bit by turning off all office lights for at least an hour, as well as providing information on simple actions which staff can implement both at home and in the workplace. If every individual in the UK saved one kilo of CO2 on World Environment Day, some 44,000 tonnes would be saved overall. If everyone did this for a year the UK’s CO2 emissions would be reduced by a staggering 16 million tonnes, which represents 17 percent of the country’s overall reduction target. Frank Hopping, managing director of Crown Records Management, UK & Ireland, said: “Improving our environmental performance is an integral part of Crown’s operations across the UK as a whole, and we’re committed to taking positive action to reduce our impact on the planet. By getting involved in World Environment Day, we aim to raise awareness of environmental issues throughout the company and show that everyone can take simple steps to make a real difference.” The campaign complements other environmental measures introduced by Crown Worldwide in recent months, including upgrading printers, segregating and recycling waste wherever possible, using packing materials which are made from at least 80 percent recycled material and working with suppliers to improve their environmental performance. The company is also about to take delivery of its first electric van, which will be based at the Bow facility in London. Sue Welland, founder & creative director of The CarbonNeutral Company, added: “The Cut out a Kilo of CO2 campaign is easy to do, as showcased by the initiative of Crown Records Management. We have put a number of options together to show how individuals and companies can save one kilo of CO2, or alternatively you can come up with your own ideas and we can calculate the emissions saved. We are encouraging everyone to actively tackle climate change by saving as much CO2 as possible on World Environment Day.” CarbonNeutral® is the registered trademark of The CarbonNeutral Company, (TCNC), the world’s leading carbon offset and climate consulting business working with over 300 businesses and 60,000 clients.
