Crown Story
The Crown Worldwide story began in 1965. A young American named Jim Thompson recognized the need for a reputable international moving service, and established a small company in Yokohama, Japan. The company grew through acquisitions and organic growth, and prospered through hard work and a focus on quality service.
In 1983, Crown realized there was a profound need for a company to help manage the explosion of physical and electronic business information. Using its experience in secure storage, on-time delivery and tracking technology, Crown began offering offsite storage of business documents.
As the company's list of clients grew, Crown expanded its range of services and technologies to meet its clients' evolving needs. Today, we operate 250 Management Centers across 55 countries, managing more than 20 million cubic feet of business records.
We serve large and small corporations, providing business information storage, scanning, imaging, offsite data protection and destruction services. Crown Records Management has grown to become the number one private company in this field.
Being a privately-held company, we are not driven by multiple shareholders and can invest our profits back into the company—our network, facilities, equipment, innovative technology and staff training. Stable ownership results in consistent service quality and ongoing improvement over the long-term.
Our management structure is very flat, which enables us to respond very quickly to evolving customer demands and requirements. We have a wealth of expertise that can be drawn from our substantial experience around the world to benefit local customers. While we operate on a global scale, we focus heavily on satisfying our local client base.
